Sustainability
The ORC European Championship 2026 in Klaipėda aims to become one of the most sustainable sailing events in Europe and to set a new benchmark for sustainability at international sailing events across the Baltic region. The championship is organized in accordance with the principles of the international Sailors for the Sea Clean Regattas program and is working towards achieving the highest level of certification – Platinum. Achieving this goal would make it the first offshore sailing event in the Baltic States to receive Platinum certification.
For sailors, the sea is more than a racecourse – it is our shared home, and one that we all have a responsibility to protect. That is why sustainability is not simply an initiative or a communications theme; it is one of the core principles guiding every aspect of the Championship. From planning and partner engagement to the involvement of competitors, suppliers and visitors, responsible resource management, the protection of the Baltic Sea and creating a lasting positive impact on the community, sustainability is embedded throughout the event.
On this page you will find the Championship's Sustainability Policy, our key sustainability commitments, guidance for competitors, suppliers and visitors, as well as information about the sustainability initiatives being implemented throughout the Championship. We invite you to explore these resources and join us in helping to build a more sustainable future for sailing.
