In 2026, Lithuania celebrates a historic milestone – 100 years since the sailing yacht Budys first set sail into the Baltic Sea under the Lithuanian flag with a Lithuanian crew on board. This remarkable journey marked the beginning of a century-long story of Lithuanian offshore sailing, shaping the country’s maritime identity, traditions and achievements.

Klaipėda ORC European Championship will be one of the highlights of this special anniversary year, inviting both sailing enthusiasts and visitors to celebrate not only world-class racing, but also the rich heritage of Lithuanian sailing.

Throughout the championship, the Regatta Village will host special activities dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Lithuanian offshore sailing, including an exclusive historical photo exhibition prepared by the Lithuanian Maritime Museum. The exhibition will take visitors on a journey through a century of sailing – from the first steps of Lithuanian sailors to today’s international achievements and victories.
